What is the easiest way to get to and from your wedding venue?

Locust Grove Estate is located conveniently on Rte. 9 in Poughkeepsie. It can be easily accessed by car from either Interstate 87 or the Taconic State Parkway. There is also a Metro North train station located in Poughkeepsie for guests traveling from the NYC area or surrounding airports.

Is there parking available near your wedding venue?

There is a large parking lot at Locust Grove Estate.

Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony will take place outdoors on the garden lawn. The cocktail hour will occur on the outdoor terrace where the bar will be located throughout the event. Dinner and dancing will occur inside the main gallery. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved indoors.

What is the dress code for your wedding?

Guests should be dressed for a semi-formal affair. Since this is a fall event, shrugs and jackets are encouraged but probably won't be needed once we start dancing! Shoes should be capable of walking on grass for the ceremony and on a gravel terrace.

What is the weather like in the area?

Currently the weather looks PERFECT. Highs will be in the upper-60’s and an evening low in the mid-40’s. Accuweather claims there will be ‘brilliant sunshine’!

What type of food will be served at your wedding?

As many of you know, we are very passionate about cooking good food for friends and family. We are serving a family style meal comprised of some of our favorite items made with simple, local ingredients.

Will there be meal options for guests with dietary restrictions or allergies?

I have provided all dietary restrictions based on your RSVP's to our caterer who will be providing personalized meals for those individuals.

Will there be an open bar?

Of course! We are just as passionate about good drink as we are about good food. There will be a tap cart serving some of Steve’s favorite beer and wine from our favorite Long Island vineyard. There will also be a full bar serving cocktails, wine and bottled beers.

What is the wedding day itinerary?

Guest Arrival - 4:30PM

Ceremony Start - 5:00PM – 5:30PM

Cocktail Hour – 5:30PM – 6:30PM

Dinner – 6:30PM – 8:00PM

Dancing & Dessert – 8:00PM – 11:00PM

What time should I arrive at your wedding ceremony?

Guests should arrive at Locust Grove Estate at 4:30PM as the ceremony will start promptly at 5:00PM. It is a holiday weekend and peak foliage is projected for the area, so we do anticipate heavier traffic than a typical Friday afternoon. We strongly encourage you to arrive early and walk the property. The venue is a stunning nature preserve and historical estate, the historic home of Thomas Morse the inventor of the Morse code!
